If your mind is open then these asymmetrics won't look too weird. Born from a desire to maximise drive down the line (with a longer inside rail) and turn tightly (shorter outside rail) in the cutback/off the top, it seemed logical to combine the two concepts. I've always been interested in the different leverage the toe places on the board, compared to the heel pressure, and curious as to how that translated in design. I think these boards are more wave specific rather than just for goofy's or natural footers, therefore I have some set up to ride left and some to ride right. I like them both and they seem to work well in both scenarios. With no regard for the rules, fin placement is where I feel they should go. They may look a little weird at first but after you've ridden them for a while, they just feel normal.

This is a loose group of boards that I custom make for those wanting to have all the paddle advantage of a mal but the feeling of a surfboard... out paddle and surf the grommets  and beat them at their own game...

Bullet

A pretty good all round board for day to day surfing in beach breaks that will light up on the points. Shorter and wider with a more generous plan shape in the nose, this easy paddling, performance oriented board allows you to surf in a variety of conditions with a comfortable approach to your surfing. The bottom is predominately a single concave feeding a deepish double concave under your back foot and a flattish vee out the tail. Rails are low and boxed and tapering towards the tail for squirt and projection throughout the turns. Standard is a thruster but I can modify for 4 or 5 fins if you like.

Go Go Fish

Tweaking the iconic Lis fish to suit a modern mindset... this pocket of joy is just the ticket and kinda ticks all the boxes when the alternative becomes the new norm. Best ridden quite short and with my own custom designed set keels to optimise performance, you’d better be careful as you may become a crazed, stoke-riddled, surf zombie before you know it.....and probably single...

Harmony Hull

Originally inspired from wanting to ride micro small Mals, these clean riding, paddle/wave catching machines are awesome!! Take the nose riding bit of a long board and the tail of a short board and...well ...you get the picture. It has a flat nose entry with a moderate tail lift for the rocker, try-plane hull under the nose feeding a vee double concave out the tail, and rails that are upturned in the nose spiralling to a low boxy foil in the tail.   It is a very easy board to paddle and catch waves with, very stable so you can learn to surf quickly and confidently and it's small enough so it doesn't feel big and clunky the line up with. Fantastic for new surfers and awesome for the experienced surfer wanting to mix it up a bit. This is the original design and is a single fin with two side bites (1+2).

Harmony Hull Quad....I also tweak this design by adding a bit more width to the tail, increase the tail rocker and drop in a quad fin set up.

HP Mal

A high performance malibu for a short board approach to long board surfing. Smooth clean rocker with an accelerating even tail lift to keeps you tight in the pocket and on rail for the carves. A chined concave in the nose for lift and a slight rolled vee under the mid section feeding a double concave vee out the tail gives you a chance to open up all your options and let you be the real performer. Sensitive low profile rails keep the spark in the board and you in control.

Luxe Twin

Fast becoming  a popular alternative your regular board...what ever that is these days, the Luxe Twin is a contemporary take on the 70's classic. A fuller forward feeling outline with an accelerating  narrower tail curve, allows you to have a great paddle advantage with excellent  drive and maneuverability from the flyers in the tail. If you like fin and edge surfing with continuous glide and acceleration throughout the turns, then this could be your next choice. It's remarkable how well it performs in and around the pocket and yet maintains drive and trim out on the face. It is quite at home in either the beach breaks or those super fast down the line point waves. Best ridden with set side fins to  maximize performance and longevity and can be fitted with an extra set of plugs for the small stabilizer fin or FCS plugs all round with my own custom TwinSpeed fins for the traveller.

Slip Stream

The Slipstreamer is a 21 century approach to a timeless proven design. Tug Deluxe

A high performance board for day to day surfing. Ideally suited to better quality waves but quite capable of holding it's own in the junk as well. Narrower than the tugboat, it is the perfect option for those high speed critical manoeuvres with a bit of forgiveness built in to get you through when your not on your game. Lower rocker in the nose and a bit of kick in the tail keeps the triple concave to vee alive and responsive. You are back in control and free to react as you feel. .

This board is featuring a polypropylene deck insert, hand painted by Chris and for Billabong in Japan.

Referencing the Mini Simmons design I have added a nice Phantom twist to see  much fun can you have in garbage surf!! Hull under the nose feeding into the triplane hull under the back foot keeps this board feeling narrow in the tail, neutral in the nose and on rail.  Then when the waves start firing the reactive, down foiled rails will not disappoint. Set hand-foiled timber fins keep you going in the right direction. Strap it on, paddle it in and hang on!!

Whippit

This is a more fish nosed version of the Shovelhead... The wide point is still forward, the rocker flat and there is a roll/hull under the nose for neutrality under the front foot, feeding into a deepish double concave to flat out of the tail. Rails are upturned in the nose spiralling to low profile foiled in the tail. A quad set up is optimal and in the Fouruster configuration... think your best board, cut about a foot  off it and it is now your best board ever!!

For the intermediate surfer, this is a great design. It is able to be modified to give you superior wave catching ability, the flatter deck give you the stability and support you need to help you progress to more turns and keep the smile on your dial. Just order it longer, wider and thicker ...I can personally help you with that.
